This senior class doesn\u2019t need a destiny to prove their worth as the leaders of the school.\u00a0 Many classes have gone through the school quickly and were forgotten just as quickly.\u00a0 The class is here to find out what kind of men they will be. It\u2019s early to tell, but its members are hopeful that their experiences will aid in leading the school.<\/span><\/p>\n

Students reflect on how their three-year struggle between Covid-19 and normalcy has morphed their class into what it is now.\u00a0 <\/span>Seniors are the only students who experienced life before the pandemic at this school. They often seek the advice of trusted advisors like Mr. Paul Spencer.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are many different opinions on what makes a senior class good in the school but one idea seeps through all of them. History teacher Mr. Spencer said, \u201cIn the halls of Catholic, having that school spirit and being that comic relief, which I think your class will be good at, is going to be well loved.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSeniors make themselves memorable through pep rallies and the energy they give off,\u201d said senior Andrew Travis.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen late November, early December comes around, everyone is tired, cold, and it’s dark outside, I can see [senior] Chris Adams or [senior Chase] Small meowing like a cat for some inexplicable reason,\u201d said Mr. Spencer. \u201cThat’s cute, that’s what we need right now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The energy class of 2023 provides is prevalent all through the relationships made between classmates.\u00a0 \u201cI\u2019m able to talk to random seniors I have a class with and strike up a conversation,\u201d said senior Ian Draeger.\u00a0 \u201cYou could be a freshman and approach a senior and they would start talking to you.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere are certain friend groups but ultimately I\u2019m homies with all the people in my grade,\u201d Travis said.\u00a0 \u201cWe have a brotherhood that connects with a real family love.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Travis and Draeger agreed upon the type of brotherhood their class presents.\u00a0 \u201cOur class embodies the holding people accountable part of Catholic,\u201d said Travis.\u00a0 \u201cI remember freshman year you could walk the halls and hear people talking about bad things other freshmen did,\u201d said Draeger. \u201cNow it’s, oh, he did this bad thing but what can we do to help him?\u201d\u00a0 The class holds each other accountable to ensure the success of the whole class, not just a few individuals.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr. Spencer emphasizes the importance of not only being a well-socialized class but also opening up to the other classes and even those outside the school. \u201cA good senior class focuses on service,\u201d said Mr. Spencer. \u201cIf your senior class is able to demonstrate those things, how can you not be a good class?\u201d\u00a0 \u201cBy its nature, the Catholic High brotherhood is an exclusive club but we never want that brotherhood to be that way,\u201d said Mr. Spencer.\u00a0 \u201cWhat makes you a good class while you walk these halls is your rallying the troops, making sure, the underclassmen have an advocate, you’re goofy without being irritating to lift people up. I see that already with your class,\u201d said Mr. Spencer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Many people wonder about the significance of all the ceremonies seniors have.\u00a0 \u201cThe big change I see is going to come next week when you put the ring on your finger,\u201d said Mr. Spencer. \u201cWhen you put the ring on, Guys, take it a lot more seriously.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Time will tell what class 2023 will end up being. \u201cIt feels like yesterday that we were just freshmen,\u201d said Draeger. \u201cI\u2019m really excited to see what this year brings.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
