Most know Biernat from his role on the court and in the student body, but not everyone knows what goes on behind the scenes.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biernat puts in large amounts of hard work and determination in all aspects of his life. He maintains his grades, leads the school and basketball team, and makes time to show up to most of the school\u2019s events.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biernat was one of a few seniors who decided to run for class office. \u201cI decided to run for class office because I wanted to have a leadership role in the school,\u201d he said. \u201cI always saw myself as a leader, so I thought this would be a good opportunity for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senior class president, Jed Straessle, often works with Biernat. \u201cBen is always a huge help as a class officer. There is a lot of behind-the-scenes work that goes into the stuff the school does and we all have to work together,\u201d said Straessle. \u201cWe all have to put in ideas, and Ben is never afraid to speak his mind.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Senior Grant Hodge is one of Biernat\u2019s best friends. He said, \u201cBen is a great leader; he encourages everyone and cares so much about the school and everyone in it.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biernat enjoys being a part of the class office even with the extra responsibilities. \u201cI love being available to people who have ideas,\u201d said Biernat, \u201cand I like being able to use my position to make those ideas heard.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doing all of these extra activities is no easy task. \u201cIt is challenging to balance all of the extra work I have to do,\u201d said Biernat, \u201cbut thankfully the addition of the eighth period has allowed me to get home earlier. Even with that, I still have a lot of work to do, but you just have to make time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biernat is also a great basketball player. \u201cI started playing basketball when I was around five years old, and I was always pretty good at it,\u201d said Biernat. \u201cI also played other sports like football and baseball, but I realized I was the best at basketball, so I started going with that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some players talk about how they feel pressure from themselves to perform, but it\u2019s different for Biernat. \u201cI don\u2019t really feel any pressure from myself to perform, I mostly feel pressure to perform for the fans who came out to support me,\u201d said Biernat. \u201cI feel like since they took time out of their day to come watch me, I should make it worth their time.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being on the basketball team isn\u2019t all about just playing basketball. It\u2019s about the memories made as well. \u201cMy best memory of being on the team is probably when we were playing Cabot,\u201d said Biernat. \u201cWe were down by 20 points at half, but the team came together, and we ended up winning the game by 20.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBeing on the basketball team has definitely helped me in other parts of my life,\u201d said Biernat. \u201cIt has helped me in the class officer position because I am the team captain of the basketball team. It has helped me learn how to be a leader, and it helps keep me focused.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Biernat is a big supporter of the school\u2019s sports and events, some may even say he is the biggest supporter of these things. \u201cWe play in the hardest division in the state in all of our sports,\u201d said Biernat, \u201cand the work that all of our coaches and players have to put in is amazing. I like to be out there and be really supportive while they\u2019re out there battling on the field.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Straessle and Hodge notice this support from their classmate and friend. \u201cBen comes to almost every single Catholic High event,\u201d said Hodge, \u201cand it\u2019s really great how he holds everyone accountable to show up.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cA great thing about Ben is that he is always there.
