<\/p>\nGo to school, go to practice, study, and then go to bed. That\u2019s the routine for most of the student athletes at this school. For these people, athletics is just an activity, but for a select few, it could drastically shape their future. Certain universities recruit top tier athletes to play sports at the collegiate level, and in return the athletes receive a free education and the chance to play for a high caliber team. Some students here have this opportunity. As Brother Richard would say, \u201ctheir doors are opened\u201d by their athletic ability.<\/p>\n
One of these athletes is junior Dylan Thompson whose prowess on the pitcher\u2019s mound has garnered attention from some southern universities.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019ve been looked at by Missouri State, Missouri, Arkansas, Arkansas State, and Wichita State,\u201d\u00a0said Thompson.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve received numerous phone calls and letters, and even texts and visits from scouts. I first started getting attention at the end of the season last year, and ever since September, I\u2019ve been getting even more attention. Missouri State has shown the most interest in me thus far, we\u2019ve talked on the phone for about an hour.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI try not to think about it when I\u2019m pitching,\u201d Thompson said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt motivates me when I\u2019m practicing; it makes me want to work harder to be a better player. I know that if I show my full potential that I won\u2019t have to worry about college.\u201d<\/p>\n
For senior lineman Luc Bequette, the pressure isn\u2019t as great, because he has already signed to play for the University of California.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was a tough decision, but I decided that Cal was for me,\u201d said the senior.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s definitely a load off my shoulders, now when I go out and play I only have to worry about the team, and I don\u2019t have to worry as much about how I look as a player. I can play loose, without the thought of \u2018what will I do if I can\u2019t make this tackle, or this sack? Will the scouts see me any differently?\u2019<\/p>\n
